Preparing Your Home for Sale
A Complete Service to Make the Process Easier
For many of our clients, selling a home is not simply a property transaction — it is the closing of a significant chapter in their lives.
Many of the homes we work in have been lovingly lived in for decades. They are filled with family memories, books, artwork, heirlooms and belongings collected over a lifetime. Often our clients are preparing to move after children have grown and moved away, or they may be navigating life after the loss of a partner.
At Style A Home Bayside, we understand that this stage can feel overwhelming. Our role is not only to style your home for sale, but to guide you through the entire preparation process with care, clarity and professional support.
With over 15 years of experience preparing homes across Melbourne’s Bayside suburbs, we help clients move forward with confidence while ensuring their homes present beautifully to the market.
Initial Consultation
We begin with a free consultation at your home to understand your goals, assess the property and discuss the best approach to preparing it for sale.
During this visit we look at:
• Furniture placement and layout
• Decluttering requirements
• Areas that may benefit from improvements or repairs
• Styling opportunities to enhance presentationFollowing the consultation, we provide clear recommendations so you know exactly what steps will help your home present at its best.
Preparation & Decluttering
For many homeowners, the biggest task is sorting through belongings accumulated over many years.
We guide clients through this process thoughtfully, helping identify what should remain in the home for presentation and what can be packed, donated or passed on to family members.
When additional assistance is needed, our organisers and packing team carefully help you through this sometimes daunting process.
Trades & Property Improvements
Small improvements can have a significant impact on how buyers perceive a property.
We can organise and coordinate trusted local trades to complete works such as painting, repairs, garden clean-ups or other improvements that help refresh the home before it goes to market.
Our goal is to ensure the home feels well cared for and ready for buyers.
Property Styling - Furniture installed & property styled
Once the preparation work is complete, we focus on styling the home to create a welcoming and aspirational environment for potential buyers.
This may involve:
• Repositioning existing furniture
• Delivering and installing selected furniture and decor, selected from our warehouse
• Enhancing bedrooms and living spaces - adding linen, cushions and decor
• Providing artwork for the walls to replace any personal photos and to create a flow with our piecesMany of our clients already have beautiful furniture, so our role is often to enhance what is already there while adding the finishing touches that elevate the overall presentation.
Note: The hire period for the furniture and items is based on 4 weeks, and we provide 2 weeks free of charge.
Ready for Market
Once furniture placement and styling is complete, your home is ready for photography and inspections.
Our aim is always the same — to present the home in a way that allows buyers to emotionally connect with the spaces while showcasing its lifestyle and potential.
Interior Decorating

Our Interior Decorating service is designed for clients who value professional guidance and want a cohesive, well-resolved result.
Whether you are updating a single room or refreshing your entire home, we work closely with you to create spaces that feel both beautiful and functional, while reflecting your lifestyle.
By combining your existing pieces with carefully selected new elements, we create homes that feel not only more beautiful, but more enjoyable to live in — enhancing your everyday lifestyle.
In-Home Consultation
$300 + GST | 1 – 1.5 hours
The first step is a personalised consultation in your home.
During this time, we will:
• Walk through the spaces you would like to improve
• Discuss your lifestyle, preferences and how you use each room
• Review existing furniture, artwork and décor
• Provide immediate ideas and recommendations
• Take measurements and photos where required
This consultation is an opportunity to gain professional direction and clarity, whether you choose to implement the ideas yourself or continue working with us.
2. Tailored Design Proposal
Following your in-home consultation, we prepare a tailored Design Proposal based on your brief and the spaces discussed.
This proposal outlines the scope of works and provides a fixed fee for our Interior Decorating services, with a minimum engagement of:
$4,000 + GST
This investment reflects our time, expertise and involvement across your project, including:
• Design direction and spatial planning
• Sourcing from our trusted network of suppliers
• Selection of furniture, artwork, lighting and décor
• Consideration of colours, materials and finishes
• Coordination and guidance throughout the process
Our role is to thoughtfully curate a home that feels cohesive, elevated and a true reflection of how you want to live.
Your Design Proposal will include:
• A clear scope of the areas we are working on
• Design direction and recommendations
• A curated list of furniture, furnishings and styling items
• Estimated investment guide for recommended items
It’s important to note that the Design Proposal fee covers our professional services only.
Furniture, artwork, lighting, soft furnishings and any other items are sourced and quoted separately, allowing flexibility to tailor selections to your preferences and budget.
3. Proposal Approved - Your ready to proceed
Once your Design Proposal is approved, we move into the next stage of bringing your home to life.
Design Development & Mood Boards
We begin refining the overall look and feel of your spaces through:
• Mood boards and visual direction
• Refined selections of furniture and finishes
• Fabric, colour and material coordination
This stage ensures everything is cohesive and aligned before any purchasing begins.
Sourcing & Procurement
We then manage the sourcing and ordering process, including:
• Liaising with our trusted suppliers
• Obtaining quotes and confirming availability
• Coordinating orders, lead times & costs for delivery and installation.
We take care of the detail so the process feels seamless and well-managed.
Installation & Styling
Once items are ready, we coordinate delivery and installation, followed by final styling of each space.
This is where everything comes together — transforming your home into a beautifully finished and considered environment.
We take on a limited number of Interior Decorating projects to ensure each client receives our full attention.
